It is believed that the gates of the underworld open on the 15th of the lunar seventh month, allowing wandering spirits and ghosts to roam from the realm of the dead to the realm of the living. During this period, people engage in the Hungry Ghost Festival for one to five days to perform worship, exorcise, and make offerings. Traditional activities include performing merit-making ceremonies and Chinese Opera, distributing rice and putting up auspicious objects for auction. Interestingly, the Hungry Ghost Festival is not originally a local festival in Hong Kong but rather a tradition of the Teochew people. Over a century ago, a large number of Teochew people sought refuge in Hong Kong, bringing this custom with them, and it has been passed down to this day, becoming a traditional folk festival in Hong Kong. In 2011, the Yu Lan Festival was even recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong. **About Shipping** Local Orders (Hong Kong): Default shipping method – Hong Kong Post’s “Local Ordinary Mail” – Delivery typically takes two to five working days.
